NeuroScan Ltd

Commercial-stage neuro-diagnostics spin-out.
What we do
NeuroScan builds decision-support software for neurology and stroke services. Our first product analyses non-contrast CT head scans in the acute setting, quantifying early ischaemic change and flagging large vessel occlusion so that hospitals can make transfer decisions to a thrombectomy centre within minutes of acquisition rather than after a consultant has been reached. A second module scores white matter change on MRI for use in memory clinics, where the current practice of qualitative visual rating varies widely between reporters.
Market and customers
Stroke pathways are among the most time-critical in medicine, and the introduction of mechanical thrombectomy has made the triage decision both more valuable and more complex, since the treatment is only available at a minority of centres. Our buyers are hospital stroke networks and imaging directorates, purchasing through regional network agreements rather than single-site deals. The company is deployed across seven hospital sites in Scotland and the north of England, covering a combined catchment of 2.4 million people.
Traction
The stroke module holds UKCA and CE marking as a Class IIa device. In the first full year of deployment at our lead site, median door-to-transfer-decision time fell from 74 to 41 minutes across 900 patients. Annual recurring revenue is in the mid six figures and growing from network expansion rather than new logos, which suits a sales cycle measured in quarters. Gross margin is above 80% and the deployment model is now standardised enough that a new site goes live in under six weeks.
Team and investors
The founding team combines a consultant neuroradiologist, a machine learning lead from the university's imaging group, and a chief executive recruited from a medical device business. The company has 19 staff. Existing backers include a specialist healthcare fund and the university's investment vehicle.
Current raise
We are raising £2M in a Series A to fund regulatory clearance and commercial entry into two European markets, expand the clinical evidence base with a prospective multi-site study, and complete the memory clinic module.
