SecureChain Ltd
Cybersecurity
Supply-chain provenance and audit platform.
What we do
SecureChain provides supply chain provenance and audit software to manufacturers and their buyers. The platform records each custody and transformation event for a batch of material against a tamper-evident ledger, so that a claim made about a finished product — recycled content, country of origin, absence of a restricted substance, chain of custody for a certified material — can be substantiated by evidence collected at the time rather than reconstructed from supplier attestations after the fact.
Market and customers
Regulation is the demand driver. Digital product passports, deforestation regulation, battery regulation and customs origin rules all require evidence that most supply chains cannot currently produce, and the obligation lands on the party placing the product on the market, who must chase it through tiers of suppliers they may not directly contract with. We sell to that party — typically a brand owner or a first-tier manufacturer — who then onboards their suppliers onto the platform at no cost to the supplier, which is what makes adoption possible at all.
Traction
The platform is deployed with nine enterprise customers, through whom 620 supplier organisations are onboarded. The company is pre-revenue against its long-term model in the sense that most current contracts are still structured as paid pilots rather than enterprise licences, though those pilots generated £480k in the last financial year and three have converted to multi-year terms since the year end. Supplier onboarding time — the single biggest deployment risk — is down from eleven days to under three.
Team and investors
Founded from Edinburgh Napier University's cybersecurity centre, the company employs 21 people. The leadership team pairs the founding cryptographer with a chief executive from an enterprise supply chain software background. Funding to date has come from an angel syndicate and Innovate UK.
Current raise
A £2M seed round is being raised to convert the pilot base to enterprise contracts, build the regulatory reporting connectors that the EU digital product passport regime will require, and expand the sales team into Germany and the Netherlands.
